10 Influential Blacks 2013 Awards Honoree - Christopher C. Woods Jr., Liaison Officer, Director of DBE Preconstruction Services, McKissack & McKissack

Christopher “Chris” Woods is a highly skilled DBE Manager with more than 20 years of corporate and community experience in advocating educational and economic empowerment in diverse communities throughout the Northeast. With an entrepreneurial flair for business building, community development and analyzing complex urban conditions, Chris has developed a keen ability to mitigate issues that have the potential to adversely impact a project or program’s goals and objectives.

As Liaison Officer, Chris is responsible for providing a variety of initiatives to promote the identification and use of small, disadvantaged, minority and women-owned subcontractors and businesses for the Project. In this capacity, Chris will serve as a point of contact for community based organizations and professional associations, and for managing on-going relationships/partnerships. He will support TZC, LLC in their efforts to translate and communicate the outreach plan to both internal and external audiences, and will serve as the day-to-day liaison to ensure compliance with Federal and State Affirmative Action reporting requirements.

Chris previously served as Director of Diversity during the design, construction and operation phases of the redevelopment of the International Arrivals Building at JFK International Airport where he developed and managed an award-winning M/W/LBE business inclusion program. The $1.7 billion development and privatization project, the largest in aviation history, generated more than $200 million in design, construction and post-construction awards to M/W/LBE firms. Chris directed the efforts of the general contractor, design consultants, facilities management and retail concession personnel to ensure compliance with all applicable goals, regulations and standards. He also led an aggressive community outreach initiative to take advantage of local resources.

Chris’ additional experience includes the Coney Island redevelopment project, Foley Square Federal Office Building, Jamaica Transportation Hub, Fulton Mall Streetscape Project, Queens Family Courthouse, and Brooklyn’s Metrotech Center.
